A useful trick with the backcountry meals is to wrap them in a jacket or sleeping bag to keep them warm while they rest, and rest them for about twice as long as it says on the packet. They may be edible after 10 minutes, but they're far nicer and closer to real food after 20.
With Back Country when possible we add the water to the bags in the morning and let them soak all day, then just heat at meal time. Makes them a lot more edible

Hmmm - now there's an idea - I must try one with it reheated in the bag in the billy i.e. double boiler as the water can then be a brew . . . . but if you already do it you can have all the credit haha

Yep thats how we reheat them, but happy to share the credit especially if there are royalties
