The nicest dehy meal I have ever had was Mountain House (USA company).
Back in 2017 we cleared out a food store in a hut we frequent and found this meal in the bottom of the drum, Carried an expiry date of 11/98. Gave it a soak for the day and tried it for tea. Bloody fantastic, couldn't tell it wasn't the real deal.
Found out later that their products used to carry a 7 year shelf life claim.
$24.95 in the early 90s says it wasn't cheap to buy at the time.
I took great delight in telling my daughter, who was 18 at the time, that the cow that made the mince died before she was born.
