My grandmother used to make 'health drink' out of lemons and a mixture something like this, plus sugar. Was always warned that drinking too much of it might have dire digestive consequences but I liked it and seemed somewhat immune to the... squits.
From Google: Cream of tartar is the potassium acid salt of tartaric acid, otherwise known as potassium acid tartrate or potassium bitartrate. Apparently (at some stage, anyway), got by scraping out used wine barrels. Which has to be a good thing - natural foodstuff and all that.
