    Mushrooms

Evening all, my wife and I absolutely love mushrooms and thrse have been popping up on our lawn. Just want to check if these are a safe variety as we often have alsorts of funny fungus growing and these look to be the first edible type.

Those are identical to the yummy ones we eat off our farm Smell them. If pleasant they should be good to go, if iodine or chemically smelling, not good. Apparently the toxic ones go bright yellow if you bruise the upper surface.

Ordinary field mushrooms those bites are slug damage. Perfectly good to eat BUT BEWARE! Everything you put them in will go black or very dark grey at the least. Those older ones will probably be full of tiny holes from little mites

They look like common field mushrooms. I would eat them.

pop the stalks out ,give em a wash /wipe with damp cloth and drop em in na pan of sizzling butter .

alternatively before you "pan" em fill the buggers with a heap of cooked rice ,chopped bacon and what seasoning you like.Dad liked em though some called them horse mushrooms !

BTWthe juices in the pan make a bloody nice sauce!
