    Old Shool Pickled Eggs

    As the title suggests today I made some protein packed Old School Pickled Eggs.

    I took some of this

    Hard boiled and peeled the eggs, chopped half the onion, placed it all in a jar with the spices, topped it off with white vinegar.

    And ended up with this

    Easy to make too

    The longest bit, apart from waiting for them to pickle for ten days, is boiling and peeling the eggs.

    There's a retired toolmaker around the corner from me that pickles everything known to man: eggs, mushrooms, walnuts, chillis of all sorts, you name it. Eg: this dude got shitty that worchestire sauce wasn't what it used to be, so started a batch of 209l of his own stuff over 10 years ago, and I have to say it's like night n day, he won't sell it, it's his lifetime supply . Unfortunately he also has a bar at his house so whenever we are round there watching sport or for Thirsty Friday, eventually the pickled stuff comes out. Black beer and pickled eggs are Grade ONE atomic fart material. It's incredible. I can clear an entire workshop on a Saturday morning.

    Black beer and pickled eggs are a match truely made in heaven , second only to pickled onions and Larger beer

    I've been tempted to try pickling some frankfurters too

    That does sound yum. Pickled garlic is a bit of alright too.

    A pickled egg dropped into a bag of walkers ready salted and a pint of old peculier, one of the few things I miss about England.

    Well now you no longer have to miss out.

    Make yourself a jar of pickled eggs and head for the nearest Irish pub, order yourself a pint and a packet of crisps and down the hatch.

    With a few pickled chillies later on when you've had a few. The biggest surprise was the walnuts. Delicate, delicious, totally not what you'd expect.

    I don't think I have ever tried pickled eggs. Why only six Pete?

    Used to see pickeled eggs on the counter of every chippy in the uk, but they seem to have gone out of fashion.
