    Old time munchy bar

This munchy bar was used by the trappers who worked for the Hudson Bay Company in Canada , it id a real yummy one

    HUDSON BAY BREAD

This recipe for “A Hunters Trail Food” that keeps, is high in energy is over 100 years old and is better than most commercial munchy bars available today.

    HUDSON BAY BREAD

    INGREDIENTS
    1 LB Butter
    1/3 cup Light Corn Syrup
    1½ cups Honey
½ cup Sugar (brown or white)
½ cup Nutmeats. Chopped (pecans, walnuts, etc)
    ½ cup Shredded coconut (unsweetened)
1½ cups Raisins Dried Apricots, Dried Apples. One kind or mixed.
    8 Tablespoons Flour
    10 cups of Rolled Oats

    METHOD
Add first ingredients to a large pan and warm over heat.
When butter has melted add dry ingredients.
    Mix in well.
Place mix in a large, well greased baking pan, place in an oven pre heated to 300F/150C for 45 minuets
Remove pan; press down on HB Bread with a spatula until it appears hard.
    Cut into convenient sized squares
    Allow to cool.
Wrap in cling film and store in refrigerator until used.
It will last for months in the fridge and up to a week at room temp.

You can use any nuts you like, and most dried fruit.

This is an old recipe that has been in use for a long time and was originally cooked in a camp oven.
    ENJOY
    veitnamcam and Munsey like this.
Get as close as you can then six feet closer
