Pies - Gloria Bakery - Green Island, Dunedin

Recently a friend recommended getting some venison pies made at Gloria Bakery

    https://g.co/kgs/aPCsANj

After speaking with the owner, he needs a minimum of 5kg of diced meat in order to cook and prepare the pies, we dropped off 9kg of fallow, there’s a variety of combinations but we had some venison/mushroom, venison/cheese and venison/cranberry made up.

The venison/cranberry pies are a little bit more expensive around $2.30 from memory due to cranberry costing more but it’s less than half of what you pay for a pie in the shops. You get approximately 8-9 pies per kilo.

Needless to say we got ALOT of pies back for the 9 kg of venison and each pie is certainly packed full of meat and super tasty. We kept half of the pies while the other half went to various families I know who have kids and are struggling.

Speaking with the owner he also said young goat goes well as pie meat as does chamois and thar, he’s also made wallaby pies for a client who then later got more made up.

Anyway, I thought I would just share this with any Dunedin based hunters as another option of getting meat processed into something delicious.
