I personally wouldn't go for #1 on top of the list because of the long que (there is no food worth a long wait)
#3 on the list or upward on the list usually works for me.

My wife likes the Garden Resturant (Buffet) so variety is pretty impressive. (Though like you we dont go out much) There is a bar in there for serving drinks to diners, but not a bar (like a pub) with leaners etc....

I enjoyed Lonestar last time we went there but I guess they are the same everywhere.....

There's plenty of good places in Christchurch and almost every one of them serves meat. Price wise, you get what you pay for.

Thanks guys, reason asking is with diverse group of people, something that most people will eat.

My experiences with eating out and why we don’t is for 2 people spending north of 150 bucks.
A 6 pack, bottle of wine, and a power feed of salmon, chips mixed salad prawns, cheese, nuts etc , can easily be done for less, forgot the candle. Something that has P me off is the price of seafood, steak and the quality is rubbish, but to go to a restaurant and get the same, for top dollar, . At Christmas with family we each do what we want, some are vegan, some eat this but not that, I don’t suffer from all that, must be a Labrador.

Maybe you do want to try the Garden Resturant....$43-$48 per head for Dinner / evening or mid $30s per head for lunches. Prices vary a little depending on whether it is a Fri Sat for Dinner or Sat/Sun for lunch and a few bucks cheaper for gold cards...

Includes dessert and no waiting....if you want more of something.....or less....You only get a plateful of veges if you put them there..... And you are not pying for expensive tables, flash chairs or a chefs ego...

The Platform at Ohoka/mandeville on tram road is good, if you’re on the north side of Chch.

I don’t normally go to speights ale house but recently had a meal at the one in Tower Junction, and the food and service was good there too.
