    Whats your camp concoction

Been stewing this over since Mohawk660 and I went to Oamaru hut where we shared the hut with two other hunters, Our last night at the hut we all put in an item of food for a group dinner. So what was concocted up was a bit of an oddball one but damn it was nice

    the feed consisted of

    a boiled spud
    onion
    mince
    a can of baked beans
a pack of uncle bens tomato and basil precooked rice

All of the above slapped into the one pan

with maggi cheese flavoured instant spud to go with the feed.

So what evil looking things have you guys come up with that have come out better tasting than what you thought.

Cheap red wine (cask), mixed with Fanta.....

-This was inflicted upon me by a couple of very fetching female german backpackers. ...which is ironic, as after 6 cups, I in turn inflicted myself upon them. Never has an army stormed The Fatherland so quickly, or so drunk.

-Apparently it's a common way that backpackers drink cheap red plonk.
..anyway, I was expecting it to be crap, and it was surprisingly drinkable. (and effective).

As long as you did not wake up to find any suspicious looking toys left by your pillow the next morning

On a road end hunt I go the whole hog and you can expect rotisseried chicken, camp oven roasted vegetables and freshly baked bread. On a walk in it is extremely different with almost dehydrated everything these days.

My fav would have to be fresh venny liver, bacon and onions in a wee sauce made as it cooks. Awesome, hot or cold. Drives the cook nuts if I cook it at home.

Damn that sounds good morning, noon and night!
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Am pretty sure you forgot the Home killed beef sausages that the dairy farmer chucked in !!!!!!! Yep wasn't a bad feed...

Probably best advice I;d say as already been mentioned in this thread already , if it's a long hard walk in take dehydrated , if not take what ever you can comfortably carry. Meat is ok , just be mindfull in spring and summer that meat will go off quickly.

Don't take any meat in with you and don't eat meat for several days before going bush and believe me you will hunt at your best. There will be no sitting around the hut swapping bullshit, you will be out there doing it from before daylight till after dark. When you do shoot one, camp on it and eat your fill and then there is a lot less to carry out.
Dead is better and eltoro like this.
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.

I didn't have any of the sausages as I had stuffed myself full of baked beans and bread rolls on our first night there, before they were cooked
