Food of the Gods
Actually quite Ok If cooked right
Meh
Wouldn't feed it to my Dog
I fed it to my Dog and it died
You will be shunned by me if you eat it
You will hasten the apocalypse if you eat it

I fed it to my dog and it disowned me.
evil vegan hippy shite
vege is evil, fruit is worse and salad is the work of satan
tofu is even worse !!
I have tried it. I found it quite tasteless/bland. But I'm no cooking connoissuer.
I actually wondered if I was eating the same thing that people were raving about. Meh for me.

Add chilli, meat, garlic, soy sauce - to 5% tofu, and it's ok
Finely diced and then a liberal amount of olive oil over it. It slides off the plate and into the bin easier.
Is that even a food group? If so it's never been available in this house.
Have loved the stuff since my first flatmate showed how you could make a whole pack taste like bacon-worked for my first year apprentice food budget.
Many moons later I lived in Taiwan for a couple of years and a fellow kiwi took me to a local hole in the wall takeaway that sold what he described as the "crack cocaine of tofu"https://thewoksoflife.com/ma-po-tofu-real-deal/ I have never tried to make it at home but it is now how i judge a Chinese restaurant.
If only crazy hippies hadn't somehow introduced tofu to NZ as a shitty meat replacement, rather than the veggie it is
It's alright if cooked properly but still meh.
All comes out looking the same.
It's not meat. It's also not one of the 3 major food groups: Rum, Coke, chips. Sorted!
This sums it up pretty well

Its not the Tofu.
Its the eaters of Tofu that are the problem
Isn’t it a type of furniture?
Theoretically, yes. But it has problems keeping its shape once sat on.
like a bean bag then?
Tofu and avocado sit side by side...in the bin
You can’t Douglas score it, useless type of beast...
I only hunt wild Tofu, the stuff in the supermarkets is pretty bland, a bit like comparing rutting stag shot by yourself to the supermarket venison mince they sell for $10 a Kg.
As it is quite soft I prefer a solid point .22 as there is less damage to the carcass.
If you dont dress out wild tofu properly then you can get issues with it spoiling, you must remove the anal glands, usually with your teeth, much like the method employed for lambs testicles.
Dont worry about sexing your tofu it is a genuine hermaphrodite. Often when hunting Tofu you can pick up the sound they make when hugging small trees, its a kind of chanting thats hard to describe .
Same as Kale Lots of oil on the pan so it slips right off into the bin where it stays Then get the bacon ......
Sorry , had my man bun wound up a little tight this morning. It should read .222 I should also mention that most of my hunting kit is made from natural fibers, and my sandals are used tyre treads.
We could start a forum Tofu calling competition, contestants could video them selves and post it.
Maybe during the second lock down?
There is no " have never tried that shit" option?
Tofu in NZ = Foul rubber-like substance...of questionable origins...
Tofu in SE Asia = Delicious. Silken tofu is where it's at! Especially Mapo tofu....
It's a bit like Euro vegetarian food vs Indian vegetarian food.
You feel sorry for the poor sods eating Euro vegetarian food. Whereas the Indian stuff ain't half bad.
Note - Im not a vegetarian...but when traveling through some of the more interesting parts of SE Asia, my risk avoidance strategy states:
Meat/ seafood = My dear friend the toilet bowl we shall never be parted
Tofu / Vege = probably ok
I used to eat it when I lived in Japan for a year. it was cut into small cubes and fried. Very tasty. As Mr Matu says the stuff we get here is no reflection on how it can be. Maybe a bit like old Grandmas boiled cabbage. Boiled till all the flavour and texture is gone. No surprise it tastes like poos.
boiled cabbage, hell i swear thats what 90%of rest homes smell like. poor oldies having to eat that stuff
MH I would think since they don't send the good stuff here. Fresh is always best so maybe it doesn't travel well and needs a good shelf life so has more crap and preservative in it. Kind of like the opposite of red meat here, which all the good stuff gets sent overseas to get good money and we are left with the crap here.
