22 LR set up with wheel chair.

    Hey team,

Just a quick one. I’m looking at setting up a shooting platform for my Fad. He has MnD but loves to shoot. Any suggestions? Thinking tripod and saddle with a drop chart.
Suggestions/recommendations would be awesome. Here’s a pick of where I want to set it up for him at his house.

tabletop bench set up so he can slide wheelchair underneath and simply lean forward to be in position???? as for drop chart...why not put targets all over the show so he can work out holdover for given ranges and then use same for bunnies close by.....

That looks liken awesome wee project.... I'm sure you will get plenty of advice and ideas.

One issue (not too bad with. 22) but empty brass is a nightmare in wheels given the right diameters and angles some sort of lip running around he edge to keep any bits and pieces falling off

Check out some of the YouTube videos for rubber ducky shooting at long range, I can see you needing all your friends and families empty drink bottles as floats....

Yeah that could be a good option. Could look at making the bench removable and put a saddle on it + have some designated “ranged” targets placed out with a range card of sorts.

That is a really good point, also noting the grooves in the deck!

    Awesome looking spot!
What about some sort of shooting stick setup that slots into holes in various parts of the deck?

One of the originals at our service rifle club isn't exactly jumping anymore, and he does ok in a fold up chair (substitute the wheely chair) with some sort of daddy long legs bipod on his AR (in 22lr) I'll email him and ask what it is if you like

A few gongs on the hillside might be a good addition.

Thanks for the input so far team. It is a pretty sweet spot, he built here just before he got diagnosed abt 2 years ago. One of crap things about MnD (motor neurone disease) is that he will slowly loose the strength in his arms etc as well. So I was also thinking of a “full automated” saddle, something that could go up/down left/right on a toggle. Would probably cost wayyy to much though lol. Otherwise I might keep my eye out for an old unloved plat/swivel mount from work .

    Could be an option.

Will look into some ideas. If anyone has pictures or sketches of ideas, that would be awesome as well.

    Cheers.

    the chair looks pretty beefy

what about a bracket / small table that attaches directly to the chair, that way you can put out targets in a wide arc and let him maneuver in the right direction ?

the other option would be a dedicated bench-rest type bench that is tall enough to drive the chair underneath, lots of plans for shooting benches on the net, and pretty simple to build a sturdy one from timber.

How about a bren gun carrier, side mounted shooters etc with laser sights. maybe a flame thrower too for scrub control etc.
He could drive and shoot anywhere the tracks will take him! (might cost a bit, but he will probably be thankful enough not to accidentally roast you with it)

If I ever wind up in a similar situation then I hope someone builds me one.
