Thread: 5.6x57 single shot project

There was plenty of surface rust on the action and remains of the shotgun barrel so I was going to paint the metalwork with black etch primer, but decided to give cold blueing a go.

Stripped and sanded the action:



Then blued the action and trigger guard:



Then I stripped, sanded and blued the barrel:



I am pretty happy with how it came up, although I am going to redo the action

I have a piece of your walnut there to make one with, just didnt want to waste it on the first stock I built for it incase it wasn't the right shape.
Once its finished and I'm completely happy then I will make one from some of your walnut

I used birchwood casey super blue.

I ended up taking the engraving off the sides of the action to clean it up a bit, still needs a bit more blue I think.

Actually, it was perma blue, not super blue

So, because I get bored easily in the shed and I haven't been able to get it to the range to do some load dev it's time to start fiddling again.
