    6.5 Grendel reamer wanted

I'm looking at converting a rifle from 7.62x39 to Grendel. Getting a reamer from the states is going to cost loads. Anywhere in NZ I might be able to source one?

Surely unless you rebarrel the hole in the middle will be a bit big unless you invent a new cal the 7.62 grendel.

    7.62x39 > 220 Russian > 6.5 PPC > 6.5 Grendel > Wildcatted to 7.62x39 Improved.. Nah, we're not going full circle.

I'd be rebarrelling too, but no point buying a barrel unless I can find a reamer too.

Your gunsmith should have or be able to source one

Yeah, they didn't. I can try one or two others though.

@Mathias - did you acquire your own reamer for that neat wee Sako or did it belong to a gunsmith?

More importantly than how to go about converting a rifle from one calibre to another, shouldn't you be looking at building an extension for a proper sized gun room so this disturbing one in, one out or convert it trend is nipped in the bud?!?

I gave mine to the smith as part of a deal, it was a .264 LBC reamer and he also had the SAAMI reamer. That smith currently doesn't do public work, but KG could act as a broker for some work I believe

Quit your crazy talk! I'll be reloading less calibers so this is actually a good thing

What sort of rifle does one own in 7.62 x 39 that would warrant such work when you can grab a Howa or Ar off the shelf?

Most of my reamers were sold a few years ago, and I never had a 6.5 Grendel anyway.

Have to ask why not a howa
Also from what I’ve read the 7.62x39 bolt face is slightly different yes it works
But a proper Grendel one has slightly different Dimensions

It's nothing special, but it's a rifle I am quite fond of. I'd like to try a high-end barrel and so whether I use a Howa, or an AR, or this one, I'll be dropping a similar amount of coin.

Measured the case heads... 0.444 for 7.62x39, 0.438 for Grendel.
