    6mm 284

    Hi all
been a member for a wee while, haven't posted bugga all but have found some of the threads informative.

Was looking to replace 22-243 with a lighter rifle. Was getting heavy to carry around

    Picked the 6mm 284.

Thought I'd post pic of my fairly new 6mm 284. Greg Duley put it together

Barrel is an imported fluted 26'' bartlien, Action is Tikka T3, stock is carbon fibre
Total weight is 7 1/2 lbs

Re loads -Greg found some bullets caused excess copper fouling. The 105gn Berger Hybrid suffered least. Also the 95 gn Accubond did result in bit of fouling, but am using that also. Mainly or closer shots. A fouling shot was needed initially, but doesn't seem to be now.

MV is 3400fps for the bergers using 57 gns RL26 and Norma cases.
    Scope is a Swaroski Z5 3.5-18 * 44 P.

Only a hunting rifle. bit wary of barrel wear. Hunt mainly in central Tararuas and Ruahines and an annual expedition to the west coast/Canterbury. taken it on a few trips so far, happy with the Bergers and Accubond. Bergers seem don't seem to drop deer as quick, in close shots but been good over 200 yards

Groups usually half MOA or less. tested distance on the range, out to 600 yards and performs good. Will try bit further soon. Have been rapt with the consistent accuracy

Bipod is a lightweight Javelin Long. Weighs 157 grams

Havent seen much on the forum, bout 6-284

My other rifle is a 22-243. swapped my Winchester70 243 barrel to 22-243 with a true Flite barrel. Settled on Swift Scirroco 62 and 75 gn bullets and had good results on Red deer. Velocity was pretty quick but a bit difficult to get grouping consistently

Prior to the 243, have always used a .222 Anshultz
