Wouldn't you want something with indexing, so that it is simple to change the settings consistently from one person to another ?

How about one of those slip on gumboot recoil pads..maybe a bit crude, but cheap and will do the job, would add an inch or 2.

those slip on ones would be the go. dad has an adjustable mcmillian target style stock on his 243 that would work but I hate to think what it would cost to get one, 1200+ if baught locally nodoubt....

with a bit of kiwi Ingenuity you could make one up easy enough, they are just a sliding pole that fits to the recoil pad that a bolt tightens up against once the stock is the desired length

they do catch on sticks and leaves when in the thick stuff tho

Im target shooting so not an issue with twigs. Yeah if I had a metal working lathe / setup it would be a easy peasy. Meanwhile Im playing with some ideas on paper to see if I can do it by buying some bits and using woodworking tools...ie my drill press.

yea totaly possible with just normal tools

think broom stick thickness tube attached to the but pad that slides in and out of the stock. locked by a bolt that just tightens against it

if there was only two shooters using it id set it up to completly remove and have a set amount of spacers that just slid onto the tube to give the correct distance quickly.
we were going to do this to dads gun but have never got around to doing it. for spacers we were just going to use a block of wood or similar

What I'd like to do is add something like your butt piece to it...

is it the lenght of pull you want to adjust or the height of the cheek piece?

length of pull, cheek piece is already covered. The Butt of the stock has been hacked with a saw so I need to rebuild/repair it anyway ie cut new pieces in, or I could cut all that off cleanly and fit an adjustable butt.

This looks ideal but they wont ship out of the US,

An afternoon with a lathe, milling machine and some alloy as you say and I'd be sweet....not hard to make

Ive found the actual maker so Ive sent them a msg asking if they'll ship to NZ. The 4 way is listed at $116USD + shipping. If they do even at $200NZ its a deal.

ie they say "International orders must be placed over the phone." so it might well be possible.

Not sure what happens with importing here but I can cross that bridge with my AO if they will ship. If they will I'll try and import a few depending on the interest.
