    Barrel fitting

Would anyone know if a ruger american tenon thread and a 600 mohawk thread are the same?

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

is a 700 rem the same? got a 600 243 that I'm playing with but it may need a new or s/h barrel. Its a 243 at the moment but would consider something else that uses the same bolt face. I have a 30 06 low mileage ruger american barrel that I could possibly get the chamber end shortened and go 308..

On a remington Mohawk ,7 and 700 the barrels are swappable , with sometime a bit of headspace re adjustment needed.
They are 16 thread per inch but a bit larger than the ruger American which is 1”-16 tpi.
Going the other way, a Remington barrel thread can be “ thinned” down and fitted onto a ruger. I have done it in the past.

Cool thanks. Another question re the mohawk. The trigger, must be about 5kg can is this typical of this model and can you mod it or are you better off going aftermarket or does a 700 one fit?

Heavy triggers are normal on most Remingtons. From experience the triggers on the 600s could be tuned to be real light and crisp.

I dont have enough experience on the 600s to be sure if a 700s trigger will be a strait fit.
