...I think from the factory it is probably better controlled...
When you flute a stock barrel, unless it is a bull barrel or extra thick, then their is a risk if you ask me...

ive got my barrel and bolt fluted, id like to get my action milled on the top like a sako open top feed, when I get around to it. lightweight rings and all up my T3 weighs 3.3kg. although in saying that it gets out plenty and gets its fair share of use.

well I guess some people like fries with that, some people don't so its really your preference. I did it because every man has a tikka and I wanted something a little different

20mm 30 shot group on a good day, so no complaints about how it shoots, factory guarantee which mostly goes when you start putting handloads through it anyway

just whoever mills or cuts the barrel make sure they take exactly the same amount off in each flute - were talking fine tolerances here, not 0.5mm or 1mm!

I'd be pretty happy with a 20mm 30 shot group

I doubt I will ever own another fluted barrel after having a carbon wrapped one. It gives better weight saving and has some real world accuracy pros.
If it works as well as it has on my barrel everytime I would say fluting is outdated.😆

Doesn't look as cool as fluting though. Though that is up to the eye of the beholder

Do you walk around the bush looking at your rifle, amusing yourself as to how cool it looks?😆

I plan to only look from one end of my rifle in the bush.

I like the look but everyones different, looks much cleaner than fluting. Maybe carbon wrapped bolts are the next big thing haha
