Bergara bxr (10/22 clone) light strikes, trigger upgrade?

    Hey fellas
Bought a brand new Bergara BXR on special from guncity a couple of weekends ago. Bought as much different subsonic ammo as I could find to try (6+ types) and although some better than others all of it would give light strikes for a given mag - I think CCI standard set the record with a best of 9/10 going bang.

Bit of forum reading it seems like light strikes is something that (some of) these guns do and couldn't really be bothered having guncity on about it so thought I'd have a tutu myself instead. I read that sometimes the firing pin return spring is too strong and reduces the smack of the hammer so took a few coils outa the spring - still lots of light strikes. I also read that a trigger group swap has fixed the issue for others - I don't really like the trigger as it is and would like to upgrade anyway so leaning towards that solution unless anyone has any other ideas?... I did pull the Bergara trigger to bits and is a bit different to the standard 10/22 inside.

Also if I do put a new trigger in it, anyone know where I can buy a Kidd single stage in NZ? Seems like that's the trigger everyone loves but no-one seems to sell them here...

    Thanks

Mine I recently tried at the range and would misfire every other round. Apparently an edge on the bolt was catching onto the tip of the ammo, and cause the ammo to 'bend'. Where it caught on the ammo is the 'indented line' you see on the bullets below.

Gunsmith recently helped shave off the sharp edge off the bolt, but haven't yet gone back to the range since to see if it made a difference.

Hmmmm - yous is a lot gamer than me - not sure I would have touched anything for fear of nullifying warranty -why not straight back to gun city and tell them to fix it

Yeah I should've, but could also just see the conversation playing out 'its a semi m8 just need to find the right ammo' etc, and given a new trigger would be a nice upgrade thought I'd save the ball ache...

Options to try seems like BX trigger $229, timney $449, and kidd more expensive again assuming I can find one...

Just as an update in case someone finds themselves with the same issue, pulled the trigger (geddit) on a new volquartsen TG2000 trigger group and problem has disappeared. Bit of a spendy solution but also far nicer to shoot now so feels worthwhile. Don't think I'll be reaching for a bergara next new rifle purchase tho...

contrary to your expressed opinion re GC ive had two rifles i purchased prove faulty and both times without hesitation theyve been promptly replaced ,the second time with a gift of a box of ammo due to my troubles -that on the orders of none other than DT himself. Had i bought this rifle yep Id have contacted them and returned it pronto under guarantee.Im no gunsmith so i do not touch triggers-IMHO tis a job for the gunsmith .

Strange. I've put nearly 5000 rounds through mine and have yet to have a misfire or cycling issue. Shooting all sorts of ammo, super and subsonic, suppressed most of the time.
