Making the BSA Martini side mount for scope.

Been playing with the 'new' BSA Martini.
Putting a scope on it just for fun at indoor BR.
So...started with a rough piece of 'square C' shape aluminium, 6mm thick. Cut out a sort of 40 x 40 shaped piece.
Would have been way quicker to just buy a 40 x 40 x 6mm angle, but my bit was free! My aluminium was a rough old piece that was given to me. It came out OK with a bit of filing and a polish.
I found that I ended up with 35 x 35 after trimming off the fat bits I didn't need.
Mounted mine low, so the 35 x 35 is fine. If you want your scope higher stick with the 40mm height on the side.
Bought the Picatinny rail from Trade Me.
I elongated the front mounting hole to allow some elevation adjustment, and bunged in a M5 hex head grub screw at the top, as the 'adjuster'.
This allows me to keep the scope optically centred as best I can. Both side mounting screws will of course be fully tightened once I'm in the 'ball park' for elevation.
All shaping done with a hacksaw and a file, then some sanding and a light polish. There's a few scratches as it was a manky piece of metal I started with...but I call that 'patina'.
I'll take it off and do a nice final polish once I see how it all works together. I think the cutout for the loading/ejection is OK for shape and size, and it does fire out a spent shell case quite well...no drama.
I'm happy to share my pattern if someone wants to make one of these and doesn't know where to start.
    Anyway...the photos tell the story...
