    BSA METEOR

This little gem has finally been returned to me after I don't know how many year.
The years haven't been good to it and will need a bit of TLC to get it back to even half decent condition and I have no idea where to start or even if it's worth starting Serial number is TH 947XX
Where do I start. There is one of the screws missing at the front of the stock anybody know where i can get one ?

Years ago I had a nice one like that in .22, sadly it got stolen
I’d have another one if it came up for grabs.

    I had one in 177

Used it to control birds in Keith Spackmans pack house

Years later he gave me a Zundapp motorbike as a thanks

I remember screws falling out of it a lot

I've got one in .177 fun little rifles.

Young's air guns may have spares or know the size/length

was my 2nd gun when i was about 10, started off with a diana where you could watch the pellet in motion
the wood is generally pretty good and just needs stripping and an oil finish. dont skimp on the metal and get a good hot blue job done and it will last a 100 years

    Cracking guns!

I had one as a kid and shot all sorts with it. I bought another one a few years ago for plinking. I treated mine to a new spring and seal kit, made a big difference.

Might have to take you up on that offer.
There's a split at the front on the under side of the stock. the rivets on the priming arm will need replacing I haven't tried loading it yet. but everything else looks ok

Has anyone done the nitro piston conversion on a meteor? I’ve been thinking about it for my .22 version

You are fortunate in that it was returned to you with the rear sight. Seems to be the most common part missing and the hardest to find. I have both in 177 and 22 and they date from 1957, the first of the production run I believe.

I sent one up to Ron Young a couple of years ago and he got it going again just fine. https://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co....nterest-67811/
It shoots 15 or maybe 20m very nicely. If the wood is cracked, it could be a bit more of a challenge but you're not looking for 21st Century field target performance. Get a new 2-7 or 4x sized scope with close focus and a proper recoil pad.
