Can I cut a sizing die with a finish chamber reamer ?

As the title say "Can I cut a sizing die with a finish chamber reamer ?"

The sizer die would just be for the one rifle
If I fractionally under sized the die blank would it size the brass down to under chamber size ?

This would avoid the cost of buying expensive obsolete reloading dies
I have heaps of 4140 32mm offcuts from my barrel maker about 150mm long that would be perfect for dies

    Cheers

I’ve got a die here that was reamed with the same chamber reamer, not sure if they undersized the bore of the die though. I’d have thought the reamer would cut to the same dimensions, unless the wall thickness was on the thin side.

I have a full length sizing die for my 6.5 made using the rifle's finishing reamer. It has also been electroless nickel coated to build it up a bit inside. It full length sizes my brass, but only just. It struggles. Maybe better to cut it with a roughing reamer and then hone.

Sorry, correction, my die is a body die and doesn't size the neck. I do that after full length sizing with a bushing neck die. Same overall result just 2 dies to do it.

Yes I'm assuming it will be the same as the chamber [B]but [B]I'm also assuming that the brass spring back would leave the loaded rounds pretty hard to chamber

And because it will be for a single shot rifle there won't be any camming power to chamber a tight round

And because it will be an obscure round I won't have the luxury of a roughing reamer

    Short answer is no but...
You can make a neck sizer die with a finishing chamber reamer. You need to machine the top out to accept neck bushes.
Reamers can be ordered in 3 sizes, rougher, finisher and sizing.

Finish your chamber then have the reamer ground for the die?

    Yes that would work
But the reamer is only usable once as a chamber reamer

Yes but its a one off obscure round isnt it? Otherwise get a die reamer as well.

Like I said you can use my dies, load up a heap after working up a load & send them back, I have 3 .375Ex & two more barrels coming one day .

I don't think you will use a lot after working up a load ?
