Custom AR / A Cat Stock.

Could some one just clarify the following point and I appreciate that this subject may well have already been flogged to death.

I currently have an AIL stock on my AR and the standard grip that comes with it sucks. I would like to remove the grip from the stock and replace it with a Fab Defense Mako ergonomic Pistol Grip.

I cannot see this being to difficult, 1 Cut away epoxy holding the current grip. 2 Drill a hole in the new grip where the AIL arm from the stock would slide into, 3 epoxy resin the AIL stock arm to the new Grip to complete the upgrade.

The stock configuration itself would not have changed other that an upgraded grip.
    Any thoughts or suggestions.

I'm guessing it should be fine... I thought the A2 grip on those Ali stocks is quite nice...

That's the one Grunzter. I guess the current grip could be worse but I really like the look of the Fab Defence Mako grip.
Cannot see it being two difficult but was wondering if others have attempted a grip swop out with this stock.

Ali will make you a stock with the grip of your choice if you send them the grip you want to use. Just resell the old one.

No problem. While we are on the subject on ail stocks the metal bit that goes around the buffer tube and the sling swivel stud screws into has some wiggle in it. Does anyone else have this problem and does anyone know how to fix it?

Mine doesn't wobble.. Maybe you could take the whole bottom half of the stock off, leaving the buffer tube assembly attached to the gun. Then bend the part of the stock/rail that fits into the 'wobbly part' slightly to one side so it puts tension on the wobbly part when you put it back in place. This should stop it moving. Get what I mean?

With regard to the actual grip, I hated the little finger knob that goes between middle and ring finger, so I took to it with a rasp. Then some sand paper. Then some finer sand paper. Now there is no annoying knob and the grip is so much nicer to hold.

Thanks for that. I haven't taken the stock off as yet but my best guess to fix it is to add a spacer to do what you just said. Regarding the grip, the blokes who make ALI stock also sell the houge overmoulded rubber grip so you could ask them to make you one with that grip.

Lol, thanks for that, don't no if I want to buy another stock, when changing out the grip could be accomplished with a drill and epoxy, lmao. May give it a go and if I stuff it up, then get them to make me up one. Cannot see it being to difficult to be honest. Hardest part would be superateing the current grip from the rod. Hacksaw, file and sandpaper. Lol
