    Etching name onto knife

    Hi
just making 3 knifes for presents for my son and son in laws and thought I might etch my initials onto them. What are people using as power source for electro etching - where is best place to get power source from? would appreciate any advice from those who are doing it.
Ive got the stencilling side of things sorted
    Cheers

I’ve used a car battery charger and salty water, 12volt is about right.

Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

its basically a miniature carbon arc as the graphite conduct the power. its time consuming but you can get amazing detail. i saw it being done years back with a blade and the guy etched medieval type scrips on it.
unsure if it will work on stainless though. 17amp hour bike battery, a couple of crock clips, a bit of wire and a pencil. worth a crack on a piece of waste steel though before you try a blade
