Fixing floppy forend

Project was to fix up the floppy forend on my Titan 6. The rifle shoots well as it is but the front is just too flexible for my liking. So I set forth with a carbon arrow shaft 5 minute araldite and dremel tool to either fix or fark up my forend.

masking removed to admire nice clear epoxy and realising I should have spun the arrow shaft to hide the writing on it

knocking high spots off epoxy and opening up barrel channel using 80 grit emery for a start wrapped round a socket

letting my 2 yo have a crack she can't mess it up any more than I have. more clearing of channel 80 grit followed by 240 then 400 and then 1200

a final buff with autosol metal polish on the buffing wheel.

Well heaps of clearance now and I feel much better about it, Its a bit stiffer but would benefit even further if I bed the knox section of the barrel but since I intend to get another barrel for this thing soon I'll wait to see if the dimensions are the same as the barrel I have now.

Umm what happened there the pictures were there when I previewed the post?

Read the sticky by crzyman on posting photos and try again. I want to see this have been thinking along the same lines for my tikka

Did you look at this stuff or used it before, before you done the stock.
MatchGrade Synthetic Stock Stabilizer - Terminal Ballistic Research

It still flexes but not as bad as it was. There is enough clearance for the barrel to not contact the forend when sideways pressure is applied, and the barrel will touch the bottom of the forend tip when pinched together. Its about as good as I can get it without bedding the first 50-60mm of barrel. The Titan6 is a switch barrel design so the barrels will have to be the same dimensions for the bedding to work. For the moment I'm happy

Mate Iv got a 3 shot spare mag for standard cals if yoou ever need one.

Yes I had checked out his page and did plenty of internet research. The time required and effort to cure his product didn't appeal to me, I did like the finish of his product though. Having his gear sent to me in OZ didn't appeal much either total cost for the job was $11 for a similar (strength wise not in appearance") end result

I'll keep that in mind mate, will be back in NZ in March if you have it lying around untill then ,I'll have to sent an import permit over if it was to be posted to me.

Tim fixed the problem with the pictures for me.
