Thread: Husky 9.3 project

Picked this Husky 9.3x57 up a couple of auctions ago and have been slowly working on it. The barrel is 8-10 so I'm not going to go too hard out, just clean her up etc.
Had a horrible yellow stock- like it was made from some weird Scandinavian lumber- probably why I got it for a good price. I'm thinking about re-chambering to 9.3x62 just to take full advantage of that projectile...

I have something very similar that I acquired recently. A husky M46 in 9.3X57 (a M96 style action). Stock not yellow like that though, just looks normal but a but rough.

I have one too. Cool guns. Dies are the hard thing to find... Norma do brass... The stock is likely beech...

I had one of those too, much nicer condition than this one, but flicked it on before I shot it. I have always wanted a m98 version and finally tracked it down.

BLC-(2) is suppose to give magic velocities in the 9.3x62. I've got a very light load of 56gr 2208 with a 286gr prvi projectile in my 9.3x62. Gives about 2250 fps. You could probably match that in the 9.3x57.

Removed all the varnish from the stock. Next job up was replacing the badly chipped Schnabel tip.

Stained the stock darker and added a Wenge hardwood for end tip. Tried to keep it sort of an English forend length. Not sure why photo is upside down. Tried rotating it.

Nice, taking on an Orbendorff Mauser style now, looks great!

Yep, that's the idea. Re-did the chequering next, which I stuffed up by curving it with the grip when I should have kept it straight. But it doesn't look too bad and the wrist is too thin to start again. I learnt from my mistake and the other side I kept straight.

I really like the Wenge timber, I've used a couple of times now and it has a lot of character. Attachment 70501
