    If you wax

After rubbing heaps of oil into your stock, will this affect it
I mean if you don't wax further down the track you just rub more oil in
will waxing over the initial finish be a problem or should i not do it and just reoil when I want to.
    thanks..

Are you using Birchwood cassey true oil if you are the wax is good to use over it as it seals and protects it.

Yeah that what I was thinking, either that or a clear coat, which I don't really want to do becuse when a coating gets damaged it looks really unsightly and it a big enough job to strip and redo the whole thing again
Thats what got me considering the wax over the top finish, however with the wax, what happens if you wish to oil again is that a problem?

Wax will wear off in handled areas, if you re oil it should soak into those areas and sit on top of the rest. The birchwood stuff (true oil) is really good but its actually a thin penetrating varnish which lasts much longer than an oil ever could. It also isnt water sensitive like linseed or tung oil are.
I wouldnt wax over it, as wax can make refinishing difficult if its ever needed.

well its ok if you use it on the main shaft or the ball of the pistol grip but never wax over the end of the Schnabel or you may block projectiles leaving the barrel and cause premature ignition or even backfire

Exactly, the Schnabel has always been a problem.
