Have been wanting to either make a stock from scratch or reshape an existing stock on one of my JW15's for ages now, I decided I had very little to lose so just got stuck into reshaping.
Here is the rifle before I started, I just don't like the plain and boring stock!

To be clear i'm a bit of a butcher when it comes to this stuff but calm down, its just a JW15.
On the want list:
- Raised cheek piece (I like big scopes)
- Fatter and shorter forearm
- Palm swell
- More vertical and properly fitted pistol grip
- Brench rest style left hand grip under the butt
- Thumb up or thumb over position on the pistol grip
I had everything that I needed but I was doing this away from home so was pretty limited to tools, and I didn't really have much time to put into it. The only things I used can be seen in the photo, angle grinder with flappy paddles sanding pad, dremil with flappy paddle sanding pad, screw driver, scraps of sandpaper, a silky, a rag, some car body filler, some primer and some paint.
I first drew some lines with a vivid to get an idea of what I wanted to do and roughed up the stock where I was going to apply the filler.

Once I popped open the filler it got pretty ugly pretty quickly and I was really doubting that this was going to work.

Second coat - Getting uglier!

After the second coat had dried I decided to have a hack at it with the angle grinder and flappy pad, Shit does that thing make quick work of it or what! After a bit of shaping, cutting and smoothing with it I put on a 3rd coat of filler to fill some gaps (which I forgot to take a photo of)

Once the 3rd filler coat hardened I got back at it with the angle grinder and once it was roughed out I switched to the Dremil for some of the finer work. It was really easy to get all the lines in the right places and work the shape of the grip to fit my hand perfectly, very satisfying to feel how each change made it more and more comfortable. Bit of a quick sand down - I know its going to have a pretty crap finish and the long term plan is to paint it in truck bedliner texture paint so getting a perfect finish just wasnt worth doing and I didnt have the time for that.
