    Knife Making Supplies

    Gday,

Was just wondering if there are any knife makers here? And if so where do they get their supplies?

I have had a 6yr break from hobby making over in Aussie, life got in the way. But am slowly getting my work shop set-up again.I can find local suppliers for W1 and O1 but was wondering if there are any NZ based companies that stock 10XX and Spring steels?

Abrasives is the other thing, in particular Trizac belts.... 72"- 108" ?

    Cheers.

    Jas.

    Thanks John.
The Gamecp Artisan site took a wee bit of a search but between that and Seearco I think Im sorted.
    Thankyou very much.

Thanks. Looks like the welding forge has moved up the priority list... Didn't realise how expensive SUP9 was. Had a free source of it and 9260, should have stocked up more than I did.

Kerry at Gameco will sort you out for a lot of stuff, but metals generally are cheaper at Ssm, they also do heat treatment services but you need to be pretty specific about what you want and don't want.

    Ta.
I forge and do my own heat treat, hence the basic steels. But will check out SSM's round W1... might be nice to have a local source.

PPS in Auckland will make custom length belts of all types for a reasonable price (generally a minimum order of 10 belts) As far as steel, I mostly deal with SSM in Auckland, but I was using stuff like A2 and D2 rather than the 10XX series.
