    Looking for ideas

Ok so I've got a pretty tidy rem600 mohawk. I need to shoot it a bit more and taking it out again tomorrow to shoot some targets. being an old rifle I'm suspecting the barrel has seen a few rounds down it. I dont have a bore scope but I think the throat is eroded which wouldn't surprise me with this cal. I'm starting to think it may be new barrel time coming up. I like 243 but being the weirdo I am I like odd and different. So what other options would i have without modifying the bolt face, i quite like 7x57 but dont think it will work in this action. Some will suggest 7 08 but already have one of those and dont use it, It just does nothing for me and isn't weird or odd or old school enough. If possible Id like to try using a walther barrel as well just to add to the weirdness and as far as i can see they come in 22, 6.5 and 7mm cal. If I could get a walther in 6mm id just go 243 again. What's your opinions?

either 243 or or or or go 22-250 with fast twist!!!!! plenty of room to seat out long if you want and fast twist means the 70-80grn options are there so nipping on heals of .243

    +1 for 25-08
But if you want to shoot factory ammo, as much as it irks me to say this - 6.5 creed? (or it's parent 260 Rem).

Go 22.250 AI with a faster than usual (1-14) twist
Then the cartridges will look funky too, and you can run it as hot or as cold as you want with a wide variety of projos. Back in the early 90's my 1-14 twist with 55gn spbt was the hammer of thor on Sika. Shot cattle beasts with fmj's too. Just rattled it up the ear canal.

I might make a new wild cat and call it the 6.5 08. Ive already got enough 6.5 cal rifles 2 old school and a new variety so 6.5 camp is full. Might look into 25 08 as Ive never heard of it

The 25/08 has been around pretty much since the 308 case came into being. The 25/08 is also commonly called the 25 Souper, though where that name originated seems lost to time (according to a brief search).

Here's a different idea - as the Mohawk was always intended as a carbine size rifle, why not a 338 Federal or a 358 Winchester? You can buy new brass for both from Starline and others. Should be no issues feeding from the magazine and both will do fun stuff from an 18" (or20 or even 16") barrel. Particularly once you get to the 358 Winchester it becomes quite useful as a cast bullet shooter to bring the cost way down and turn the fun factor right up. And with the right flat nose or HP cast projectile can still be a decent shorter range hunting round.

This same line of thought taken even further leads you to the 375 Raptor
