    Try the boltholder in Matamata. Probably won't have m1 but might have 1.6 or similar size imperial thread. They have an online store.

    Found something suitable in Mitre10 of all places. Could have got a hundred for the same price from China, but whatever. Thanks for all the offers of assistance.

    I was going to suggest buying kids toy and pulling it apart,they always seem to have tiny metal components holding them together.....light fittings have tiny brass bolts/screws that seem to fit shotgun bead threads rather well....
