Mossberg 500 Shotgun repair....HELP !

Hi guys, wasnt sure where to put this....my shottie was dropped getting out of a boat at the weekend, trigger guard broke off...:sick:

took it apart, and the housing on each side of the pin that the trigger pivots on are deformed/broke (plastic) the pin was sheared (1/8th" dia replaced)

Rang 5 gun shops in Jaffaville, no one has a replacment, to order one is between $4-5 hundy :wtfsmilie:

does anybody know 'someone' who repairs shotguns who might have a 2nd hand one for sale????? pics below showing damage....'rangi' epoxy resin repair job ??????:ORLY:

Mmmm may not be a vg suggestion but wot about a panel beater ie plastic welding? They're able to do some pretty clever repairs now.

cheers @zimmer i will see what pans out and keep that suggestion on the backburner....it still goes 'bang' in its present condition!!!!!!!

Mite pay to phone some stores down south. I saw a 500 go for 300 on TM, look at all the extra parts plus a barrel to cut down:)

they've got to be kidding on the price. This is the metal upgraded trigger group... Under 100 USD, so no issues with having it sent

Just to add a bit of salt to your possibly wounded emotions, the trigger group broke on my 590, not through it being dropped, but the known weakness of the plastic (they usually break at the two lugs at the front where they locate into the receiver), I sent an email off to Mossberg with pics showing what happened, and they sent a replacement metal version. No permit or anything required, was 2 or 3 years ago.

Email has gone off to Mossberg, if no joy Brownells 'metal' trigger group will be the go......dont want to replace it with plastic and it happens again!!!!!!!!

While im waiting for my new trigger assembly to arrive from the states, i had a play on the milling machine with a piece of 12mm Acetal plastic and made this for the interim....just call me 'Bubba'.....but not to my face!!!!!!:ORLY:

Yup even information that should be pretty easy to get or understand such as my request as to whether the trigger sear in the American Ranch was Tool steel or chemically hardened. After removing .4 off it I can confirm its tool steel. decided if it wasn't we'd just drop in a Timney, but 2 months give or take for a 10 second response...Hmmmm

I require Information on whether the metal used in the Trigger unit for the American Rifle units (I have a ranch in 300BLK)is fully hardened metal or chemically surface hardened as is in some of the other Ruger models as I need to hone / polish the trigger sear to get and remove creep out of the marksman trigger. Need to know before embarking or it is likely that honing will uncover gritty quality metal underneath making the fix / polish irrelevant to fixing the creep felt in the pull.

A not unsurprising response - they are shit scared their ass may end up in a sling if something goes wrong.
I had a similar response from Theoben UK when I asked about a trigger mod. Ha, they recommended that I DIDN"T attempt it and that I send the gun back to them. Yeh right.
