That's great stuff Rambo, just shows you what you can make out of a bit of junk. I've got a buggered chain saw bar , could be good for a large bowie knife, "That's not a knife, this is a knife", will have to look into that.

Old chainsaw blades are often made from O1, if it is you won't have too many problems.

thanks Shelley cause I ve go a few of various sizes at home with precisely this thought in mind. theres one ,IIRC a 18"that im considering fashioning a gurkha type machete out of.....should keep the weeds etc at bay!
sheeeeit -we're building a new house and me mancave is gonna be demoed -must talk to son about saving those bars and a few other treasures,bugger takes em away in scrap metal runs.had to furtively remove a nice wee bench anvilfrom his pile last time i was home!!!!
