    A new lease on life

I was in the local gun shop and spotted a poor old neglected parker hale (so the tag said)chambered in .308 built on a Mauser 98 action propped in the corner the bluing was non existent, the tip broken and checkering half worn and in last inch of the barrel the rifling was non existent, the recoil pad was munted and the scope rail had been soldered on.
Im a sucker for a project so it came home with me, after giving it a good clean i found it was not a parker hale but a Churchill.
so out in the shed we went first to come of was the scope rail barrel was cut back to 18" and the front sight soldered back on then reblued, stock rubbed back to remove the last of the checkering, i had gotten some rosewood to replace the tip and pommel but was to small in profile so used some Jarrah instead. Had to replace the white inlay as the original (bone of some sort) crumbled to dust, recoil pad arrived Saturday and needed almost on fitting.
loaded up some 150grn whinchester power points with 44grns of 2208 and of to the range this arvo to see how it shoots all in all im quite happy on how it came out,Name: IMG_20220808_171437.jpg

Did the barrel have Churchill on it or the action? A mate had one that looked nearly identical in proportions and stock etc but with a Hawkins barrel, same looking rare sights. Definitely a PH though, as it had the Safari on the action which was a scrubbed WW2 I think.

@No.3. It has Churchill gun makers 7 bury street Sw1 london England stamped on the top of the barrel, I emailed them with the serial number and they confermed it was made early 60's

Nice job, I believe I can fully appreciate your obsession with bringing abused machines back to life.
I know an old armourer who keeps "Forcing" me to take project rifles home.

Not bad for open sights. Put a can and a scope on it and it should tighten up.
