    a new look bsa

    well a few weeks ago I picked up this re barrelled bsa in 22-250 off @jim160 as a part trade

    it has a nice bit of timber unsure what Walnut/Ebony? but it had been refinished(I think) with plasticy looking lacquer which I don't like on rifle stocks (personal preference) and much prefer an oil finish so that's what happened

    about 10 -12 coats with a light polish with ultra fine 0000 steel wool between coats to stop it getting too glossy photos don't do it justice I am really pleased with how it came out a little darker in colour than photos make out

    The oiled finish definitely looks the part over a gloss finish mate. Nice piece.

    yeah @kimjon I have had a few now a majestic,a cf2, and now this which is a monarch (im pretty sure) they have all been good guns a good mates dad brought the majestic which also has a stainless barrel (7mm-08) and that's still going strong and he loves it

    Very nice! I used linseed oil once and the finish was ... Strange. Nice deep colours but it had a sticky finish. Yours looks much better!

    yeah the harlim Danish oil drys hard as for use on hand rails etc linseed needs a drying agent (tru oil) is linseed with drying agent added
