Thread: New stock for the CZ223.

Hows it guys.
I really like my 527 with 9 twist but not so keen on the hog back stock,
A member on here gave me a good deal on a awesome walnut slab, so.
Have been pecking away at this for a few nights.
Almost ready for bedding and rear pillar then the shaping
Will post more picks as it progresses if anyone is interested.

Pillars and bedding done, recoil pad on, grip cap fitted and most shaping done.

your skills are amazing..good on you for having the patience to do this properly.

Ah mate I’m super jealous of your tools!! Im doing the same thing making a walnut stock for my T-bolt, but using hand carving chisels. It’s very slow going, and very hard to keep the edges straight where the action meets the stock!

Been there done that.
Invest in a trimmer/router. Less than $100 you wont look back.

Normally done once the finish is complete. Generally only the poms that checker before finishing.

Na mate, get stuck in and checker it! For the cost of getting someone to do it, you could buy about 2-3 nice new blanks. Trust me, theres a lot of labour in a good hand cut checkering job.
