    New stock project

Been a bit inspired by MDT's Hnt26 stocks. I can't bring myself to spend $3k on one though so I've embarked on a do it myself project. I will incorporate a folding stock and will make a carbon fibre butt and forend.
I bought an MDT Oryx for $760 from the guys at Reloaders.
I'm not a fan of metal mags so I bought a Pmag which has required opening up the maxwell a bit, so that was done with Mitch who shortened the barrel on my Tikka at the same time.
My intention is to have the forend meet the back the suppressor.

I've also got a mate who's very handy with 3D printing and we have some ideas as to how to get a lighter result, so we may make some items to bring down the weight further...

Bit of load testing with the 18inch barrel. First handloads looking promising speed wise. Would be nice to tighten the spread a bit.

A bit more work, using up some carbon scraps etc Always looks pretty bad at this stage! Have started trying to figure what size scope/rings combo to use. Mocked up with this old Swaro and an AR mount. The Hnt26 forends are relieved for larger scope objectives. Still deciding if I follow suit.

Work suspended for now. I moved to the Sth Island so the stocks in storage. Happy with the rear, but I'm going to do something different with the forend.

Pretty sure it's named 'closed cell phenolic foam'

Bunnings was selling small panels of it for a while. Don't think they still do. If anyone has a known source for it then I'd be keen to hear of it.

looks good, just remember to keep it long enough (over 762mm) with stock folded to avoid unnecessary "problems"
