Rifle stock duplicating machine

Started making this the other day. It's about 75% complete...but like most of my projects, that's the point at which I lose interest in them and park them up for a while.

Anyway, here is my progress to date.

Modifying a router, note the safety jandals... Excellent for mig welding in.

And finally a drill Chuck on opposite side to router to hold a profiled stylus.

I've done a bit more than what's in photos, but not enough to finish it. Will look at having it done this side of Christmas.

Fancy adjustable counter weight. I could/should have put it to better use and lifted it up and down daily to become a muscle man...but anyone who's ever met me would know that would be like flogging a dead horse, as I make Ethiopians look like Arnold Schwarzenegger!

I truely admire someone who has the brains and the gumption to make stuff like this. I think it happens only in NZ.

Just did 6 Vsds on a 6 head pantograph. 1 metres axis both ways, working well

Hey Maca, what's a vsds? I think I caught that once before when I slept with a girl from Wanganui... and I definitely wouldn't want to catch it again?

I don't know Kimjon, I think we have watched the same documentary and some of those dolls are pretty impressive... speaking of which, say you get this contraption of yours up and running, if I can supply a huge block of silicon and a beautiful woman...

we'd better catch up soon to in a few weeks I have to go to Hamilton for the day so might be able to catch up for lunch or something

I did a tonne of research into these as i was going to have one built. I guess you have seen this ? Gunstock Carving and Duplication
i think the ability to have the stocks turn on a foot switch is brilliant. that means you don't have to keep stopping to turn them.... it wouldn't be hard to do.

Yeah that's the ticket. I pretty much copied that idea to make mine. Ive still got to make the rotisserie part. I've got most of the bits...just gotta slap it together.
