Ha Ha .That there is heart kauri. Left over planking from boat we built 16 years ago, so shes well seasoned. Am surprised how light it is, weighing in at 2lb at this stage with limbsaver on.
Nice. Origin? Easier than making the laminate yourself. Most home made stocks ive seen look home made but that looks quality altho i have bung eyes and lookn at it from my phone do you have progressive photos?

That is a stunning bit of work! Love laminate stocks if it weren't for the weight, especially on a ruger!
Was the ruger a SAUM already or have you had it reamed?
Thanks for the comment bigreddog. The stock will end up a few ounces lighter than the plastic one. Will be clear coating this one, not sure with what yet. You probably know that Ruger did chamber in 7mm SAUM but I have been unable to find one. The doner rifle was 270WSM and barrel is model 7 remington 7mmSAUM thats been floating around my shed for a while. Had the tenon thread turned down and fitted up by gunsmith, is ready to be picked up monday. Next job is bedding action and final finishing of barrel channel then out comes the fine sandpaper.
almost ready for bedding
Looks very nice. What finish are you going to go with? Something to make it darker?

Thanks Toby. Still chewing over type of finish but will be going for dark walnut colour.
