    Spotlights for 4WD

I'm a bit hesitant to pull the trigger on these Chinese spotlights I see everywhere on TradeMe and Facebook marketplace. Something tells me they'll rust in a few days or something Can anybody recommend some good value spots for my 4WD?

I think I got the wrong category to post this. Not sure how to delete it and repost somewhere more appropriate.

after 1400 plus led light repairs i can tell you there is no "good brand"
the gun city ones work well though i havent repaired them in ages, issue is that everything is brand marked from the same factories.
i fitted a set of supercheap ones to the wifes d-max and the wifes d-max and they melt possums to the road at 500m
but a word of caution, look not for the lumens or the distance but the light frequency. this is measure in the K scale
    300o-3500 is warm white
then you get around the 4 k range its cold white
    6500 etc its slightly blue

when you hit the 6000 lights it looks brighter than it really is but after 30 minutes of it you will get headaches, its great for short periods, i even have it above my workshop bench when i work on miniature stuff but as far as night driving goes its bloody awful over long periods

When other people copy what you make they must be pretty good!

    +1 for STEDI

Loads of different options as well, work lights, spotties, etc. plus you can get an adapter so it will flick them on when you chuck your high beams on

Can also grab them from NZ Offroader, or have a chat to them to get the right bits of kit

From my experience, the run you get out of them really depends on several factors - the rigidity of the mounting systems (if you see the light shuddering or vibrating while you are driving there's movement or shaking and the light won't like this over time), the quality of the power feed (most supplied looms are made from cable that isn't heavy enough and you really need to upsize the cables to decent stuff to get good amount of power through), and the last one is that you need to get a light with a robust front screen/lens on it as a few hits can disturb the sealing and once they leak it's usually all over, rover. Rust or paint peel from ali corrosion on the housings is usually a cosmetic thing but disturbing the seal at the front allows water to get driven in and once you get a bit of fuzz on the connections in the back even if everything else is well sealed you will have issues...

Gonetropo is right with the colour temperature too, it's the same as house lighting - communal and recreation spaces the recommendation is the warm white, working areas are cool white and they don't recommend anything higher (or bluer) because it can cause eye fatigue and headaches...
