Yeah righto, @ChrisF. Do you know where you read or heard that from? Would be interesting to see if there is any actual test fire reports on people who have tried it and then gone shorter to see if it changes? I would be keen to try chopping it a couple of inches at a time, but this build will cost me enough without that extra cost.
Yeah that's what I like about them, I don't suppose you know of anywhere in NZ that stocks a good few of them to give me the chance to try them?

Some Yanks did tests on basically heavy barreled 308 rem700 , and they came up with I think the 21.75 inche long being the best for accuracy , I think it was all around rigity with a curtain dia , may have bench rest guys , simply the shorter you go the more rigid the barrel will be .
However as you also want resonable velocity , its up to you to figure out what you are happy with .
