I don't think an 08 mag will hold 223 rounds.
Well savage don't make a smaller action so I would say that the 223 and o8 mags will be the same OA length
Yes, pretty certain they're the same fitment and will work.
Blah blah etc:-
Just be aware if you're having to buy the magazine, as the axis-type mag (also in the lightweight hunter) is not the same as the standard savage magazine type, and will not be a suitable replacement.
The axis mag is mainly plastic and the release tab is built into the magazine, whereas with the magazine for weather warrior etc, the release tab is built into the bottom metal/magwell instead.
+1
I was after a spare mag and a couple of other bits, for an exta $50 I bought an entire second rifle.
You looking at the Savage as a base for the switch barrel ebf? Would be a good candidate with the barrel nut setup. Can easily swap bolt faces too. The Marlins are basically the same setup and judging my overseas forums a lot of parts can be swapped between makes.
Yup, barrel nut design and easy disassembly of bolt + availability of alternate bolt faces. Would be a "genuine" Savage (11,14 or 16), not Axis.
Gives me a bit more options to play with compared to Remmy, where I would pretty much be limited to same boldface, so that would be 308 and 22-250.
The earlier ones have a slotted barrel nut that you can get a spanner for. The newer stuff has a smooth barrel nut that requires a more complicated and expensive tool.
Here is my magazine with a 223 in it and a 308 beside it, and with the 308 sitting on top. Should give you an idea of size.
