If you have lived all your life being on a salary, never taking any real investment risk (not counting houses here), then just sit back and do nothing, wait for them to either make an offer, or for the knock on the door.

Two points:

You will not get as much for your firearm as you think it is worth either way.

They are not coming for all semi automatics, clearly seen from the order made which targets only external/change-mag semis.
