    Wiebelhaus & Co Axe

I got this axe head off trade me for $15, I'm pretty sure it's one of the heads that were made between 1928 and 1950 in Germany.

It has been well used and was covered in rust when I first got it, so I cleaned it up a bit and decided to cut a branch off our feijoa hedge for the handle since it's really hard and dense and I didn't have any other suitable hard wood to use.

This is how it turned out, it's my first ever axe handle so I'm pretty pleased with it but I might need to thin the handle down a little bit.

Now I just need to put a proper edge on it and oil the handle.

I'm going to refinish my boyds rifle stock this summer since it has a lacquer coating that is all scratched and chipped from the bush, any suggestions on what to use? I'd use the same stuff on this axe handle as well since I don't have any thing else.
