    Wildcat appreciation thread

Finally doing my first wildcat. So I thought, can we do a wildcat appreciation thread? There have been a few on the forum have there not?
Anyways, after mulling over ideas and procrastinating for years, I finally came up with something and ordered a reamer from Manson last year. Some back and forward discussion about minor details with Ray Gross of Manson Reamers, then design was finalised. After about 4-5 months it finally arrived earlier this year, and then it sat on my desk staring at me while I procrastinated some more. Now I'm about to get it to Jaco Goosen this weekend to run it into a spare barrel I have, and take the next step to make it into something that goes bang.

Oh yeah I should've mentioned what it actually is. No mystique here...

I called it the 7x60mm. The reamer dimensions are designed to lengthen a 7x57 chamber with the same base, neck and shoulder dimensions as the 7mm Mauser, so the brass can be formed with 7x57 dies, using most brass from the .30-06 family.

    L to R, 7x57 Mauser > 7x60 > 7x64 Brenneke

I am hoping the ballistics will comfortably send 120gr to 3000, (there's no practical reason for this is goal, I just want to) and provide good versatility for anything around 140-150gr. I will test up to 175gr out of curiosity though.

Pretty much so. A poor mans 280 for the man who has a 7x57 and wants a bit more juice.

My wildcat leaning is towards a 375 because of reasonable bullet options
But it needs to be rimmed

So I was thinking a 9.3x74R case necked up to 375
A nice sized good quality case but not as powerful as the 375 Flanged Magnum which would also be hard to get brass for

I have the great advantage of being able to make my own reamers relatively easily.

These are 30-30, 405 Winchester and 38-55 ones I have made
30-30 and 38-55 have cut multiple chambers which have all contributed to sub moa rifles

Had a fee and still got s few

Brads should be along to list his from the fun days

Funny with the rise in quality factory ammo these days, just not the same need for the old wildcats but I still have a couple
    338 edge
    300 norma mag
    22x47lap

7-375r was my favorite of the bunch but the 300 norma does everything the 7mm did & hits harder

I like the idea of making up your own designs, and before this one has even been seen through to completion I have ideas for 5 others, ranging from .224 to 8mm. I think this is going to be an expensive rabbit hole to go down in the coming years.

Not really a wildcat as such, but I'm amassing parts to build a single shot 243AI at the moment, just waiting on the reamer now

I'm also chasing buying a 303-22 complete rifle that comes with brass, dies and the chamber reamer that it was cut with

    That's an interesting wildcat

I also have 303-25 dies and could make a chamber reamer based on the brass they form
    That's a pretty useful wildcat
