Thread: Looking for 6mm/243 projectiles, preferably flat base spitzer

Like a lot of people hit by the ammo shortage no doubt, I've decided to take up reloading as I can't get my usual stuff any more so I'm going to have to experiment with what I can get my hands on in order to keep shooting.

I had been using a load with 85gr Sierra Varminter projectiles but can't get these any more.

My gun is a bit fussy but shoots fine with these. Just wondered if anyone has any flat base spitzers in a similar weight range that they would be willing to sell.

Would be willing to try other options if there's anything out there.

I would be looking to use them on red deer and maybe goats.

There's allsorts about, but if you get stuck gimmie a shout.

CBFB does the crown on you rifle have a rounded shape?

I had a mauser in 243 that did the same. Also shot the 85gr Varmint out of it. It also grouped really well with 95gr Hornady SSTs

Gunworks lists a Prvi Partisan 100 grain soft point that appears to be a flat base in the picture. Could be worth looking into as they're not too spendy and most amazingly, are in stock!!!

It doesn't have a rounded crown no. It's a Mossberg, a cheap little rifle but good enough with the right ammo and being realistic about how far to shoot.

I'll have a look for some SSTs.

Ordered some of those thanks a lot, worth trying.

Ask a dude called Bryn Blythen . Lives up northland and makes a genuine quality 95gr pill with nice rebated cavity.

There's some at Deadeye Dicks last I looked. Give them a call.

They didn't have the 85gr varminters when I checked last week but will see what they've got when I go down there
