We should perhaps pause and consider that. Start with a thought for the victims at Aramoana.

There is a tabular list of mass killings in NZ on Wikipedia, but which unfortunately does not detail type of weapon used.

Perhaps someone who knows could contribute such facts?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...in_New_Zealand

Regarding the Aramoana Massacre, what seems pertinent is that...

    (1) Gray could have done it purely using any firearm, from a .22 semi to an SMLE to an "MSSA".
Pause for thought: Anyone here ever had just a .22 bolt action pointed at you by someone you didn't trust?

    (2) Mr Gray made threats to kill in the days prior to fully going off. No action taken.
Lesson: always act on a threat to kill. Let the cops decide if it is the drink talking. You may not be the only one at risk.

    (3) Mental health issues noted. Fails first part of "fit and proper person" test.

Most of Gray's victims were killed with his 22s AFAIK, only a few with the AK.

Great aunt Helen was made of stern stuff. Had a great sense of humour but was forever changed by the incident.
There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!

    Panmure RSA murders: shotgun
    Raurimu: shotgun
    Bain family: 22lr
    Ratima family: hammer, knife
    Schlaepfer family: shotgun, knife

its always been common knowledge in NZ that preferred crime firearms are either .22 or shotty -liteweight easily chopped concealable and do the job .shotty is without peer as intimidato ,remover of door hinges locks etc etc -thats why SAS blokes dont make good locksmiths.
sure the odd crim may wave anAK round but that is highly likely to see the police demo some fine remington machinery in return, and if its taken off you a certain heavily scribbled on large gent is likely to pay you a visit or your relies and offer to provide DIY body reconstruction if he or his clients are not reimbursed&costs for the loss of an essential tool of their craft.!

Stan Graham westcoast 1941-7x57mauser ,.22rifle .303rifle ,.405 lever action winchester /.(which IIRC is still resident in the NZ Police "black museum")+ithink a .32 semiauto pistol ?removed from one of the deceased party of police;possibly SGT E M Best.R93-are you able to give any more detail.
I can think of two homicides that occured early in my career at sunnyside hospital in CHCh-both IIRC 12g shotty jobs.
one of the most ghastly was an ex sunnyside pt holed up in a flat in fitzgerald ave when an ex TF mate of mine in CHCH AOS was hit in face at point blank range. by a 12g charge through the door .coincidentally same bloke was also in ATG which finally settled the aramoana issue permanently.
late he was a community constable with marked anti gun sentiments-wonder why??
Oh yeah before i forget -back at work yesterday -bloke whose FAL Id had revoked earlier this year readmitted -me reads notes-hmm held gun to his head ???????...............WTF,where the hell did he get it.
staff meeting this morning alls quite and his name pops up -within 15secs of my opening my gob reply was -yes we checked no that weapon has been moved and secured well out of his reach..then a sort of sheepish group look in my direction as if to say:"wtf we overlooked noting that when xxxxxx is around"
yes and not forgetting another bloody talented young client and hunter who took his life via firearm recently!!

in a most benign formal headmaster manner thus he spake
"as a nurse and licensed firearms owner mental illness and firearm safety are two on my most heartfelt interests!" yup nuff said!

Do you have a credible online source to be quoted quote for the crime/firearm type facts?

That was from a quick 10minute google. Mostly media articles. For credible, first-hand sources, you'd need to find he coroner's reports and/or court documents.
