    AR15 in rush hour traffic??

Scary sight driving home in Auckland rush hour traffic tonight. Cop car pulled up next to motorway in semi rural area (life style blocks) flashing lights going. Solid traffic north and south bound. Solitary cop standing about 100 yards away from the cop wagon in shade of some trees, facing oncoming traffic holding AR15. Don’t pretend to be an expert on police operational matters, nor what the police might have been up to, but this seemed wrong on several levels. If an offender was on the run were they going to try and shoot them in a line of cars going past at 100 km/ hr ?? Had visions of the poor courier driver that got nailed on Auckland motorway a few years back.

Do you blame them for being jumpy after what happened to Constable Hunt?
Its only a matter of time until an innocent bystander is killed in the next gang vs Police shootout.
A woman has already been shot in South Auckland at her front door in a case of mistaken ID by gangs.
These OZ gangs have no qualms blazing away.

No, do not blame the cops on the beat for being jumpie. They have a shite job to do & deal with the worst elements of our society, hats off to them. But I do expect common sense, basic knowledge of firearms safety and discretion about then they'd reach into the boot to grab the Bushmaster.
And yes agree it is sadly only a matter of time before an innocent person gets caught in the cross fire.

The Police are 100% accountable for allowing gangsterism to get out of control. They seem to prefer showmanship and hubris instead of solid police work and are reaping the rewards of this.
Big brave alphas when raiding Kim Dotcom and traffic-copping yet useless at hard targets. The Police and Gangs deserve each other.

Can't be right, Mate. All those evil guns were taken off the street, at great expense to the taxpayer, to make NZ safe. And our highly-trained police force is here to protect us all. So they're the only ones allowed to have actual, evil guns. Oh, apart from our military forces who only use them in the defense of our pure, green land. And if your bullshitometer isn't ccccccccclanging over that lot, you need a head transplant.

I dont know about anyone else, but that comment from politicians always bugged me. I wanted to know how the buy back could "take guns off the street"? This was the one comment the Adern team seemed to like making, but the ONLY semi autos I ever saw "on the streets" were in the hands of Police.I have never seen a semi auto walking down the street, by itself or in a civilians hands....It might happen rarely and I have never seen it, but the Police would account for 99% of guns seen "on the streets".........

Oh, was it mistaken identity? That's OK then. No reason for the rest of us to worry.

(edited: was meant to quote gundoc!) Overall their induction and continuation firearms training is abysmal compared to the NZDF front line dudes. And I don't know what sort of in depth 'situation based' live fire training they regularly undertake. I don't thinks its much. And did they account for where each and every projectile ended up??

Those figures don't bestow me with much confidence in their ability, for sure, when I know what level of training the Govt requires of a soldier, prior to putting them in a position of potentially taking a life. Thousands and thousands of live rounds per annum, per soldier.

Have you seen the latest tactic in the USA? Cops simultaneously pursuing (driving) and shooting through their windscreen with an AR. Seems to becoming fairly common.

Also saw one where they unloaded an MP5 (or similar) in full auto into a car as it went past.
