Of all the things they could ban in the USA, that is the most stupid. It's a health issue if nothing else.

For a country that has more guns than humans,
they trying all they could to stop gun violence,
every aspect they can think of, since they can't take the 2nd amendment away.
    Good luck to them.

Amerikas a funny place, I remember once one of my friends over there showed me a photo of his collection of AK-47s/clones (not to mention his arsenal of handguns). Upon seeing my picture of my hunting rifle with scope and suppressor we exclaimed "why do you have a sniper rifle!". They are obsessed with long rifle laws, when long rifles historically contributed to less than 1% of firearms homicides over there (rest is all handguns, I vaguely remember a stat of the chance of your shooter being a long rifle users was 200:1, so might be as low as 0.5%).

Suppressors have to be registered with the FBI over there and redone each year. ( from memory)

Think it might be the ATF? I think it is a "Federal" tax though. Also takes quite a while from what I've heard, and they are expensive.

Amazing. A Bill based on fallacies that go unquestioned by legislators. I hope we never see that in NZ.

Legislation based on what is seen (or heard in this case) in the movies.

I know from shooting with a couple of Americans, One being from South Caralina and a competition machine gun shooter, that Suppressors are very regulated anyway. From memory one of them said it`s about $2000 for them to registrar one. He couldn`t believe we just buy them or make one.
He laughed when I told him we use them so we don`t scare the sheep.

The suppressor igistration thing has been going on for yonks over there.
Must've been watching too many Bond films and dididnt realize that there are very few normal rifles above a 22 that are movie quiet.
And yet some states will let mentally troubled teenagers, workers etc access to firearms without sussing out how dangerous they are because of the second amendment to keep and bear arms.
