Done, thanks Brett.
Guys - I presented Luke with the voucher Tuesday evening. He and his parents were blown away by the forum's generosity towards a complete stranger. Thank you for your support.
Please excuse the silly photos of me - Its the young fella's time
Cheers Brett
Hi All
I am the mother of the boy (Luke) injured in this incident. I would just like to thank you all for your kindness and generosity in getting him a hunting and fishing voucher. He was absolutely amazed and over the moon!!!. As has been mentioned previously this was a terrible incident most likely resulting from metal fatigue. It was not incorrect ammo and the barrel was not blocked or obstructed. The explosion was such that we were still finding fragments of the chamber etc 3 days later (and quite some distance from where Luke was shooting). We have close ties with the distributor and once the police armourer has examined the gun (approx 3 months I am told) it will be going back to the manufacturer in the USA so they can go over it with a fine tooth comb. In the meantime Luke continues to heal well and is counting down the days (14) until he can shoot again.
Once again, thank you all. I will be happy to update you once we have the "official report"
i suggest we have a scrounge around our cupboards for hunting clothing outgrown and any other hunting equipment we can donate.
kids like this are the future of nz hunting

@rachb & @35destoto good to see he’s on the mend.
I am sure most of us here will be interested in the reports once they have come back from the armourer and the manufacturer.
Also Thank you for keep us updated on his recovery.
Kind regards S
