The list is a bit deceiving, there are shotguns there that if they have the standard mag it will keep them legal.

Yep, don't be fooled. It's all based on mag capacity commensurate to the maximum chambering length of your shotgun e.g. 2 3/4", 3" or 3 1/2" magnum.

I have a Benelli that's on the list. It only holds 4 in the mag so it's legal but if I want to hand it in would I get paid for it? I'd only be handing it in so I could buy another shotgun as it's a 20g and I'm wanting a 12g... Seems like an easier option than trying to sell it 2nd hand...

If it's not a first round hit you need to practice more

If it's legal they will still take it, but would be surprised if any money came your way.

My understand my is that the Ruger 10/22 is 10+1 So ok (will be a big chuck of the buy back right there if they aren't) same goes for other firearms, it's the magazine cap not including one in the chamber

It is really simple, for a shotgun no fixed magazine can hold more than 5 rounds of the maximum size noted on the receiver.

For all others rim or centre fire a magazine cannot hold more than 10

The chamber is neither here nor there, it isn't the magazine
